A stroke rate between 24 and 30 SPM (Strokes per Minute) is typical for most rowing workouts but it largely depends on the length of it. While racing, those rates are higher but usually still below 36.

How important is the Stroke Rate for Rowers?

It is important to understand that speed doesn't come from a high stroke rate, but from the force on the rowing machine. So a high stroke rate doesn't necessarily mean you are rowing at a high speed.

How is the pace measured?

For the pace, we are using the 500m Split. This is basically the time you need to row 500 meters on your rowing machine.
